Admission to the museum is free and there is plenty of free parking available. Please meet at the front steps or come looking for us. RSVP is a must since groups of 10 or more do require a heads up to the museum. We can then plan grab lunch someplace in the nearby cultural district for networking fun!

Topics: Photographing Families and Kids. Tracey Autem has plenty of experience in shooting portraits, but after having her first child, became more and more interested in this side of her business. She recently attended Pictage U an Atlanta Workshop with some of the best (and different) photographers in the field and will be discussing some of what she learned (marketing information and ideas, studio and lifestyle techniques, approaches, and post production ideas, etc) in addition to open discussion on what is and isn’t working for us in this highly lucrative and competitive side of our businesses…just in time for the Fall portrait season to pick up!

Topics: Be a Poser! We can always use some fresh ideas when it comes to posing. We’ll go over some great poses for newborns and families, wedding party, and bride and grooms. PUG members, please SEND me a 600×600 image picture via e-mail of your best posed images. Up to 3 and try to vary the category if possible! Please put PUG POSER in the subject line because I’ll be setting a rule for those e-mails to be automatically moved into a folder for me to speed up the process of making a slideshow. Also, please bring any posing card type items to the meeting to show and tell! We’ll have a relaxed conversation about our posing follies and successes and bounce ideas off one another!

How they chose a photographer, why they chose that particular photographer, what they did and didn’t like about the entire process from first glance of website through the final “you’re the one for us” decision. This dialogue should give us all great insight and genuine feedback on how we can improve!

Simon is flying in from California and will be speaking about strategies for growing your entrepreneurial photography business, and the power of being hyper-focused on your customers. He’ll also be giving a preview of the new Pictage Portal 2.0 that will launch at WPPI.  And of course he’s super keen to meet with all the DFW photographers and celebrate your work!

Simon leads the Marketing, Sales and Product teams at Pictage with responsibility for all branding, messaging, sales execution, partnerships and product strategy. He is excited to be working with creative and entrepreneurial photographers to deliver great products and services to their customers. Simon has been an executive at three prior internet ventures – Biggerboat, Authenticlick and Affinity Internet, and before that was a partner at the Australian venture capital firm Allen & Buckeridge. He earned a B.Sc. and a law degree from Australian National University and has attended executive programs on entrepreneurship and deal-making at Harvard and Stanford.

Mike will be meeting before folks before hand for an early dinner to share his heart of where the industry is now, what trends are developing, what the future holds for successful photographers growing a business in todays economy. You are invited to come, hang out and participate in this dialogue and open conversation, as an intro the the Pictage sponsored evening! More specifics soon.

Mike’s Bio: Developing his style from an editorial/catalogue photographer, and shooting surfing & lifestyle, Mike had the opportunity to work with multi million dollar ad campaigns which gave him a perspective on quality, mastering his craft, and real world marketing. Big clients such as Roxy, Bodyglove and Swell.com like these, don’t accept anything less than perfect. Shooting slides for immediate editorial demanded shooting right the 1st time. Traveling the Globe and getting things done required excellent management, and closing leads and maintaining excited clients became his number one job. in 2004 Mike jumped back into weddings with both feet and within 2 years had shot 80 weddings. His mindset to fast track and develop a big client base in 2 years paid off.

Now in the last 2 years Mike’s business has grown and so has his outlook on business & life. He has a team of 6 photographers who photograph 80+ weddings per year. Their volume has given them the freedom to grow and pursue exciting opportunities. His business has allowed him to travel the world. Using his business growth and buzz he built a brand new studio on the coast of California.

He maintains an amazingly blessed marriage with his sweet wife Rachel. Striving to always be learning, reading, sharing & encouraging others.
